Abstract
Pakistan continues to face critical challenges in increasing contraceptive use and reducing the unmet need for family planning (FP). While public-sector facilities remain key providers, a substantial proportion of healthcare seekers rely on private family physicians as their initial point of contact.
Recognizing this strategic opportunity, the PAIDAR study was designed to strengthen the role of private- sector male family physicians in FP service delivery. Implemented across six diverse districts of Punjab, supported by Health Care Commission Punjab and Department of Health and Population Punjab, the intervention enhanced providers' capacity to deliver quality FP counselling, contraceptive services, structured referrals, and rigorous follow-up support. This brief summarizes the key results and impact of this intervention.
