Abstract
Cross-sectional survey among women and girls aged 15-60 years, and men and boys aged 15-60 years in Isiolo and Narok counties, Kenya. In Isiolo (Burat, Kina and Oldonyiro wards), a total of 2,201 respondents were interviewed at baseline and 1,728 at endline. In Narok County (Suswa, Keekonyokie and Mosiro wards), 2,658 respondents were interviewed at baseline and 2,340 at endline. The objectives of the study were to: 1) conduct an opinion poll using a combination of self-report and vignette methodologies to generate robust data to measure public opinion/attitude on FGM in Isiolo and Narok counties in Kenya; 2) examine the role of community-level implementation strategies in influencing change in knowledge, attitudes and behaviours around FGM; 3) identify key actors, processes, and structures that support or hinder the implementation of community-level end-FGM intervention; and 4) use findings to inform programmes implemented in intervention sites to accelerate progress towards ending FGM.
