Abstract
Funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the first Annual Partners Meeting of the Joint Action Research Programme on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the Horn of Africa was convened from December 9-11, 2025 by the Population Council-led FGM Data Hub in Nairobi, Kenya. The meeting brought together universities and civil society organisations (CSOs) from Ethiopia, Somalia, Somaliland and Sudan to strengthen university-led action research to improve overall efforts to prevent and respond to FGM, gender-based violence (GBV) and/or related gender inequalities.
