Abstract
Cette étude vise à établir l’importance relative d’un manque d’accès et d’attitudes de résistance envers l’utilisation de la contraception dans les strates géographiques et de population du Sénégal. Elle est destinée à informer les décideurs politiques sur la priorité à accorder à la communication pour le changement de comportement ou pour l’amélioration de l’accès/de l’information, et également à aider lors de la conception d’interventions pour réduire les inquiétudes par rapport à la santé et la peur des effets secondaires, tels que la provision d’une gamme de méthodes plus élargie et le counseling amélioré. Plus de la moitié des femmes ayant un besoin non satisfait en planification familiale au Sénégal n’avaient pas l’intention d’utiliser la planification familiale dans l’avenir et ceci était consistant parmi toutes les strates de la population. Le gouvernement sénégalais a récemment repositionné la politique de la planification familiale et s’est engagé à doubler le budget total pour la gestion des programmes de planification familiale. Les recommandations de ce rapport sont clairement notées dans le Plan d’Actions National de Planification Familiale 2011–2015.

This study aims to establish the relative importance of a lack of access and attitudes of resistance toward the use of contraception across all of Senegal’s geographic and population strata. It is intended to inform policymakers of the priority to be given to communication for behavior change or to improve access/information, and also to assist in the design of interventions to reduce concerns about health and fear of side effects, such as providing a wider range of methods and improved counseling. More than half of women with unmet need in family planning in Senegal do not intend to use family planning in the future and this was consistent among all strata of the population. The Senegalese government has recently repositioned its family planning policy and committed to doubling the total budget for the management of family planning programs. The recommendations in this report are clearly noted in the 2011–2015 National Family Planning Action Plan.
