Abstract
Many women in the developing world already rely on private sector providers for various types of treatment, as well as for family planning (FP) services, due to ease of access, shorter waiting times, and a perception of better service. Drug shops and pharmacies are also important for improving access and basic information about contraceptive products. Private pharmacies and shops are key when public sector facilities face frequent shortages and stock outs.
